Work In Progress

I started making Christmas cards yesterday.  I love to get homemade cards marveling at the uniqueness and the time it took to create them.  Since I'm newly retired with time on my hands (ya, right) I thought I'd give it a go.  What could be so hard with all the wonderful goodies out there for embellishments?

If you read my post "Out and About" last Wednesday, I posted about all the fun things I found at Michael's with card making in mind.  This is what the dining room table looked like about two hours into my project.
As you can see, it became quite an involved project.  I had to come up with a greeting to paste inside my card which I did on the computer and then spend additional time printing on just the right paper and cutting to the right size.  Then I discovered more and more things I could use to embellish besides what I bought at Michael's.  I raided the sewing room and dug around for ribbons and laces.  I was really having a good time and didn't want to quit to fix supper.  Luckily, No. 38 decided to make a pot of chili so  the supper menu was solved.  I did have to clear the table so we could eat and I managed to get several cards made.
These are just a few.  Today I'm finishing them up so I can say the cards are finished.  I didn't write any notes in them, however.  I will follow-up with an email in about a week or so.  I also started knitting a pair of socks from the yarn I purchased on Wednesday.  It took me a while to get the hang of knitting with 4 needles but I think I've got it now.  Since we got our first measurable snow fall yesterday, it was a perfect time to start knitting socks.
So, now you get the picture of my day yesterday.  It's snowing outside, I'm making Christmas cards and sipping hot chocolate, chili simmering on the stove.  Later, I watched the movie Eclipse.  I never read the Twilight Saga books but I recently caught the first movie of the saga on TV a couple of weeks ago.  I was hooked.  I ordered  the 2nd and 3rd movies in the series from the library.  The lead actor, Robert Pattinson, reminds me of James Dean.  He has the rugged, dangerous look about him.  Now I need to see the final movie Breaking Dawn but I'm afraid I'll have to wait for the DVD.  Or, get the book.  That will work now that I have the characters in my head.

Now, to finish up those cards.

Diane, Cards look very nice, a great accompishment. We have two nieces who have sent us handmade cards for many years--I have kept them all, because they are so special! The socks are looking good, also. Nice colors.

Thanks, Sandy. The socks are progressing. I am at the heel and this may be a turning point. No pun intended. LOL
