FO Challenge

The last day of February and time to post the new monthly projects for the 2012 FO Challenge being held at Cat Patches.  Seems like I've been busier than what I have to show but I started so many last month which means I was busy with those projects.  Previously, I posted about some quilt blocks I received that were done by a friend's 83-year-old mother and she wanted them put together in a queen/king size quilt.

I used the Quilt Design Wizard software and came up with two designs.  The first was a straight traditional design with white sashing

 The second was on point.

After several emails back and forth to my friend and consultations with mother, they wanted the on point design with sashing.  Oky-doky.  Back to the Design Wizard and I came up with a pattern that they both agreed upon and fit the size parameters and the blocks I had to work with.

I have the top sewn together.
This baby is big..102 x 85.  Now, to quilt it.

I started a little doll/mini quilt and I was thinking Easter with this.

I don't know.  Should I embroider poseys in the baskets or leave it alone?  The rabbits are wool felt.  It won't take long to quilt.

Those are my new February projects.  Time for a cuppa.

Great projects. I wish I had a computer program to draw my stuff on. Graph paper gets old, quick.

What great projects. I really liked the first on point design that was nice. But hey, everyone has different taste, and when you're what 83 years old (that's awesome) you get what ya want! So nice of you to do that for her. The quilt is just super cute. I'd leave it. Let the doll owner use the imagination of what is really in those baskets :)

Love the way you offered her so many options and gave her exactly what she wanted! That little doll quilt is just adorable!!! Wool rabbits? So sweet! I think I would like to see the posies in the baskets - it would add an extra element of "special."

I love the little bunnies on your Easter quilt. I can see why you would be tempted to put some embroidered flowers in the baskets. I have to admit, I love the crisp look of the white, but flowers really could enhance the design.

Love the final quilt top design with the purple blocks, it works!

That basket doll mini is so cute! How about more of the 3-D flowers you did in the borders in just the two center baskets (it might be too much in all of them)?

Trying again. The BIG quilt is very attractive on point. The doll quilt is bright and springy! Cute.

LOVE the design you and your team came up with. That really shows off the blocks so well and I am sure she is going to be thrilled to have it!
